CHARACTER INFO
Name: Cheren
Gender: Male
Source: Pokemon Black and White (gameverse; OU)
Canon point: Post-game after the player defeats the Elite Four/Team Plasma
Age: 15
Colour: #1E90FF
Chumhandle: ambitiousAcuity
History: Here are some Wiki pages that detail his history; the game's plot and his own Wiki page.
Personality: At first glance, Cheren comes off as very mature for a boy of his age - he can be a bit quiet at first, but once you get him talking, it becomes apparent that he's very intelligent. He knows he's intelligent, and sometimes it seems like he lords it over everyone else (for example, correcting people on their spelling or grammar). He can come off as quite judgmental of others; he has very traditional ideals of how people should act in relation to their age or social status, and if he meets someone who contradicts that, he'll spend quite some time trying to figure out how or why they ended up that way. So generally he's a difficult-to-please critic with rather high standards.
But he criticizes nobody as much as he does himself. He is incredibly ambitious and tends to set very high goals for himself, and only rarely does he find himself accomplishing them. When he doesn't meet his own standards, he has a tendency to berate himself and often, he'll fall into a poor mood. He's also very impatient and, more often than not, wants Instant Gratification - he has little patience for those who lag behind in their endeavors and just has a preference for seeing results as soon as possible. He'll challenge himself just to see if he can overcome it, largely to prove himself worthy of whatever the potential prize is. His fixation with getting stronger and prevailing through any challenge is something that he's struggled to find a reason for; he doesn't really know why he does it, and it's led to a great deal of confusion on his part. So the primary "challenge" he wants to overcome right now is discovering himself, and see why he wants what he does.
Of course, beyond the intense ambition and high standards, Cheren is capable of being nice. He's polite toward people he thinks deserve his respect, and he can be warmhearted toward people he's very close to. He's very selective about who he shows those kinds of emotions toward - he may be typically regarded as the "nerdy, serious friend" in his social circles, and feels an obligation to keep up that facade most of the time. He's very levelheaded and rarely lets his emotions get the better of him in the first place, but like everyone, he does have his moments. He's also incredibly honest, almost brutally so at times, as he doesn't believe in deception and is incredibly skeptical toward anyone he thinks is sketchy. These types are more prone to receiving snark and sarcasm from his general direction.
...of course, a lot of the time, he finds that he's decieving himself, which is a whole other set of issues. To say that he's a very confused teenage boy with no idea of where he's going in life is putting it mildly.
Abilities & physical limitations: He's a regular teenage boy, albeit a rather intelligent one. He has the physical prowess of an overcooked noodle.
Appearance: Picture! He clocks in at about 5'9"; he's very skinny and doesn't have a lot of muscle. He generally keeps himself very neat and tidy and wears things that are comfortable for traveling, but also presentable in a business setting - smart casual would be a good way to define it.
Notable AU differences from canon, if applicable: n/a

Title: Ace of Vim
In-game abilities: As the Ace of Vim, Cheren's primary ability is to create holograms and bring inanimate objects to life. An Ace is largely a deceiver class; they are able to create illusions using their aspect, and would be described as "one who deceives by using x". For example, an Ace of Time could make themselves appear older or younger, an Ace of Void could make themselves invisible. The aspect of Vim is somewhat tied to Life - it deals primarily with the restoration and transfer or waking energy. A Sylph of Vim could re-energize a tired person by sacrificing some of their own energy; a Thief of Vim would do the exact opposite by stealing someone else's energy and using it for themselves.
Planet: Land of Towers and Plasma. Covering the entire planet is a darkened cityscape with many buildings and skyscrapers; the buildings are edged with neon lighting and the ground seems to resemble a giant, glowing circuitboard. Not all of the buildings are open to entry, but the ones that are have a similar appearance on the inside. The planet's consorts are quite strange - they appear to be little more than floating balls of electricity. They tend to gather in large clusters, primarily because they use the neon lighting to travel throughout the planet... and the Denizen, Minerva, has siphoned the power from many parts of the city, thus restricting the consorts from moving around as freely as they should.

AA: I take it this game doesn't have an instruction manual?
AA: Or an online walkthrough, or anything like that?
AA: Tch. Bothersome.
AA: Julius... sprite... hasn't exactly told me much. He said sprites are supposed to be a bit dodgy, but...
AA: It's odd. Being able to communicate with my Pokémon is great, but at the same time it's incredibly strange.
AA: Well, in any case, it seems that there's a lot to be done here—
AA: The consorts have given me somewhat of a start, I think. They're as cryptic as Julius is, so it's hard to tell.
AA: They address me as "Ace", which is flattering, but as far as the context goes... it's just as confusing.
AA: Whatever. I'll figure all of this stuff out eventually.
AA: I never was very much for games, but after everything that happened at the Pokémon League, a new challenge is welc

Cheren scowled as the overhead lights of the ruined PokéCenter began to flicker. These consorts - they were a mischievous sort, weren't they? "They're floating balls of electricity," he muttered to himself, burying his face in his palm, "it's not surprising they'd pull stunts like this." He could hear their amused chuckling from inside. Sighing and leaving the PC alone for now, he got up and moved to the Center's doors; with the electricity out, the automatic doors failed to open. They failed to budge even when pulling on them, though his lack of physical strength might've been a factor in that.
"Master Cheren," a muffled voice sounded from behind the doors. Seconds later, the serpentine form of Juliusprite came hovering into view, flanked by a gathering of consorts. "We have a... situation."
"Fantastic," Cheren grumbled sarcastically, running a hand through his hair in an exasperated manner. "Julius, I can't get these doors open; the power's out. Is there a way you can blast them apart?"
Juliusprite nodded and backed away from the doors slightly. Once his trainer did the same, the end of his tail began to glow - he readied an ordinary Dragon Tail attack, though who knew what his newfound sprite powers would do to his moves. Though upon thrusting his tail into the glass doors, they shattered on impact; Cheren preferred to think of it as his Serperior possessing a great strength.
"Thanks, Julius," he replied, avoiding the glass shards as he approached the door again. Almost immediately, the consorts flooded into the building, amusing themselves with the many products that lined the shelves of the Center-Mart combination. Cheren raised an eyebrow at them for a moment and suppressed a groan, turning back to his sprite. "There are going to be a lot of fees in damages to pay when we get back home..."
"I'm afraid there are worse things to worry about right now," Juliusprite replied. He hovered around the corner of the Center, motioning for Cheren to follow.
Watching the retreating sprite for a second, Cheren shrugged and followed after - only to come face-to-face with a rather large Ogre. "... Really," he moaned, "this is really happening now, isn't it." Without wasting another second, he drew the taser he'd snagged from the Nurse Joy's desk out of his coat pocket and activated it, a short jet of electricity shooting down to the ground below. "How terribly convenient."
